The Giraffe Centre Day Tour offers a wonderful opportunity to get up close and personal with the endangered Rothschild giraffe. Operated by the African Fund for Endangered Wildlife Kenya (A.F.E.W. Kenya), the centre sits in Langata, roughly 20 kilometres from Nairobi’s city centre. This excursion is excellent for families and visitors of all ages, giving everyone the chance to feed the giraffes and interact with them in their natural environment.
The cost of your ticket contributes directly to the conservation and maintenance of the centre. As a non-governmental, non-profit organisation, the Giraffe Centre is dedicated to protecting these rare and beautiful animals while educating visitors about their conservation needs.
Since its founding in 1979 by Betty and Jock Leslie-Melville, the centre has played a vital role in safeguarding the Rothschild giraffe. Through successful breeding programmes and continuous conservation efforts, A.F.E.W. Kenya has more than doubled the population of this subspecies in the country. The centre has also rescued, hand-reared, and released approximately 500 orphaned giraffes back into the wild.
